"African flavours" is for the love of things close to our heart and to let the delight live on. New Zealand has its origins from a diversity of cultures. Historically, food tends to bring people together. This contribution, with pride, is a taste of ours. Enjoy...

"iKhaya" means "house/home" in Zulu, one of the languages of South Africa.
"Biltong" is dried, cured meat that originated in Southern Africa as a form of meat preservation prior to refrigeration. This supplied durable food for the people migrating through the country.
We use New Zealand pure beef and bring the African flavours and method to taste this delicatessen from our home here in Tasman.

We will send our biltong in vacuum-packed or lightly sealed bags to ensure freshness. If you choose to collect it, it can also be supplied in the traditional brown paper bag.
New Zealand's climate is a bit different from Africa...so,once opened, it is best to keep it in the fridge in a sealed container or brown paper bag (it will get drier then) and consume within 5days ideally. If you manage to resist it for months and want to stock up....you can freeze it. It is in a dried, cured form for its preservation, unopened, you can take it on a tramp, or camping for a few days and still experience total enjoyment. The tightly vacuum packs unopened can last months outside the fridge.
