Originally, we are from South Africa but have been living in the beautiful Tasman district for several years now. Initially the flavours were shared only with our friends, but now, we have decided to venture out and make it more available. Our aim is to provide a fresh product full of flavour, maintaining the traditional authentic taste sensations that we grew up with.
This has been a journey that was shaped with experiences in the Karoo (semi-desert area in the Eastern Cape) where taste buds could explore the various game in the area, like Kudu and Springbuck as well as the farmed beef or karoo-lamb with friends around a "braai" (bbq-fire) in the "veld" (open farm space). Memories of the privilege of being taught the traditional craft from hunting through to processing the delicatessen all by your own hands. This started on a Springbuck farm outside Graaff-Reinett and developed with time in creating ones own mark. These treasured memories are relived with every batch created and the result shared for your enjoyment.
We are just at the beginning of this exciting journey and decided to focus on the essence of South African taste....biltong, droewors (dry sausage) and boerewors. We are already dreaming of several other delicacies to add in the future...watch this space!
With pride, we invite you to indulge your senses.....as we will say in South Africa : "Lekker man, baie lekker!" or the Kiwi translation...."Awesome!"
Each purchase also support the iThemba project in Sweetwater, Kwazulu Natal. This is an attempt to give back to our heritage. IThemba means "hope" in Zulu. The project is focused on generating hope in areas with limited resources and changing a generation. There is a saying "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." The iThemba projects focus on this principle in four areas: Mentors -(life skills, health, etc ), Nutrition, Construction, Early childhood education. Read more at www.ithembaprojects.co.za
